Midweek preview: Bradley comes to town

Can Brandon Hohl repeat his success against Bradley?

There’s just one mid-week game this week.  Tonight, there’s a re-match between Illinois and Bradley.

Here is a quick summary:

Bradley Braves

April 27, 2010 6:05 pm ct
Illinois Field Champaign, IL
Program website link Record 12-23 (Missouri Valley 5-10)
Head Coach: Jim Schmitz Key player: Matt Fritz

Despite their losing record, the Braves have some decent offense with players like Matt Fritz and Brian Martin who can be dangerous on a variety of levels.

Bradley pitching is a bit of a weakness.  Phil Kaiser (2.57 ERA in five appearances) is the only reliever with an ERA under 6.00.

We’ve met the Braves earlier this season.  We managed an 11-10 win thanks in part to Brandon Hohl’s first two college career homeruns.

Random Ramblings

Once again, one of our opponents is honored with a Player of the Week award.  That’s three in two weeks.  This time it was Bo Felt who drove in eight runs for the Spartans over the weekend.  He was co-Big Ten Player of the Week along with Ben Heath of Penn State (first PSU Player of the Week in three years… can that be right??).

Seth Rosin of Minnesota gets his second Pitcher of the Week honor of this year.

The Illinois State University media are quite happy over the Redbirds “season sweep” as they call it over Illinois.

Pass the word on.. this Friday is the Bleacher Bum Barbeque

Good luck tonight, Illini!!

  1. Yeah thanks to my buckeyes crappy pitching on Sat and Sunday it was the Ben Heath show in Columbus. The guy is a great player but not that great. Our pitching is a mess right now after Wimmers. Are you making the trip up to Columbus next weekeknd with the team?

  2. yeah, what’s up with the Bucks and Penn St?

I don’t think I’m coming to Columbus… at least not until the tournament. Would love to, though.

  3. Yeah good thing the only game i went to was the Friday night Alex Wimmers CG 4 hitter with 11 K’s. Haha Sat and Sunday were ugly and that is being nice. The offense is not hitting very well right now and we are not getting any 2-out rbi. It has been a rough week for sure.
