Michael Massey is ready. And now apparently, are the Kansas City Royals. The Royals organization has promoted Massey to the parent team today along with four other Triple-A Omaha teammates.
In my opinion, it was just a matter of time. The timing in this case was sped along by the current controversy in which ten members of the KC team were not vaccinated for the trip for their trip to Toronto.
Make no mistake. Regardless of the situation in the Kansas City clubhouse, Michael Massey is big league material who can play second, third or short. Royals Farm Report went as far as to say that he “may well be the second baseman of the future” for KC.
I’ve said it before. Michael Massey adapts well to his environment. Royals minor league fans have seen it this year. He began the season in AA and was promoted to AAA and his stats actually improved. In fact, as Massey jumped from Rookie league all the way to AAA, his batting average improved at each level.

Those of us who experienced Michael Massey playing at Illinois Field from 2017-2019 before he was drafted aren’t surprised by all of this. With his quiet determination and hard work, we knew he had success in his future.
I know I am a little bit biased but I was a little disappointed when I saw Massey was not on Kansas City’s lineup for Thursday. I have no doubt that he will see action in the Royals’ four-game series against Toronto.
Knowing Massey, he will make the most of that.
Good luck to new Kansas City Royal Michael Massey!
