Illinois’ fourth pick in the MLB Draft was its first pitcher taken. In round 23, Cyrillo Watson was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 701st overall pick.
Cyrillo Watson is a junior righty and has been improving each year. He ended up with a solid 5-2 record and a 3.65 ERA in the 2019 season.
A South Milwaukee HS alum, Watson was an intimidating Sunday afternoon pitcher who when he was on, was unhittable. In five of his starts in 2019, he gave up one earned run or less.
Watson has one more year of eligibility left and the Dodgers will need to sign him before June 15.
