Illinois Baseball heads to Carolinas Coastline Classic

This weekend, Illinois baseball (1-2) escapes another Midwest winter storm and travels south for the second weekend in a row.  This time, they go to Conway, South Carolina for the Carolinas Coastline Classic.  After one game against Middle Tennessee State on Friday, Illinois will face historically tough Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Illinois will conclude the weekend on Sunday against UNC-Wilmington.

That’s Ryan Moerman pictured above. Ryan started his first game on Sunday’s win and picked up a double.

Remember when I wrote about Crayton Burnett’s “kind of performance gets you noticed”? That was referring to his scoreless three-inning appearance on Saturday.

Well, welcome to the starting rotation, Crayton.

Random Ramblings

Despite Coastal Carolina’s history, Illinois has held their own against them.  The Illini has an even 8-8 record and won the last time they met in 2020.  As for UNC-Wilmington, this is the first time the two teams have met.

And no pressure guys, but my daughter goes to Belmont University and the Bruins handily beat Middle Tennessee 11-1 this week.  Please do your best against MTSU on Friday.

Go Illini!
