Illinois Baseball announced their Fall schedule today. For the past few years, the Illinois baseball team have played a very short schedule of competitive games. It’s the Fall games where we get our first look at some players like we did Branden Comia (above) last year.
This will be the first year that the Illini will travel to play during the Fall games as they will visit Westfield, Indiana to take on Butler University.
- Saturday, Sept. 14 vs. Butler (Grand Park, Westfield, Ind.)
- Saturday, Sept. 28 vs. Indiana State (Illinois Field, Champaign, Ill.)
- Monday, Sept. 30 vs. Great Lakes Canadians (Illinois Field, Champaign, Ill.)
Illinois’ matchup against Indiana State will be a good measuring stick of how both teams look for next year. The 43-18 Indiana State Sycamores got as far as the NCAA Nashville Regional.
Finally, the Illinois Fall schedule goes international in 2019. The guys will be going up against the Great Lakes Canadians. The Director of Baseball Operations of the Canadians is none other than former Illinois catcher Chris Robinson. An Illini baseball legend, Robinson was at point, the highest drafted Illini. That’s Chris above speaking at the Hot Stove Banquet in 2014.
I’m very much looking to baseball at Illinois Field! It won’t be long!
