Hard to believe that after three weekend sweeps, this 2019 Illinois baseball team (10-3) hasn’t collected a Big Ten weekly award yet.
Until now, that is.
The Big Ten announced today that outfielder Jack Yalowitz was named Big Ten Player of the Week after his well-deserving performance against the GCU Lopes.
To win his first POW award of his career, Yalo went 7 for 12 with two homers and six rbis. His 4-4, 5 rbi outing fueled Illinois’ 6-3 win on Friday against the Lopes.
Yalo and the rest of the Illini will host the Southern Illinois Salukis for a three-game set this weekend for the Illinois baseball home opener series. Friday’s game time is 4pm.
