The Fall Semester at the University of Illinois is in full swing now. As an IT professional at the College of the Fine and Applied Arts, I know that all too well. Students are on campus and classes are in session . One thing about Fall is relatively new… baseball!
For the second Fall in a row, the U of I baseball team will be playing competitively. This year, the Illini will be playing two games against two different teams starting tomorrow.
- Wednesday vs. Eastern Illinois – 6 p.m. CT
- Saturday vs. Indiana State – 12:15 p.m. CT
Both games take place at Illinois Field and are free.
The Illini are familiar with both Eastern Illinois and Indiana State. While it’s been a couple years since we have faced either team, the Sycamores and the Panthers have been regular midweek opponents who visit the Illini.
We have a lot to look forward to when it comes to the incoming Illini players. Baseball America has ranked this incoming class #24 in the nation. This recruiting class of ten freshman and transfers which includes seven pitchers, puts Illinois in dynasty territory.
Illinois comes in with an already strong team from their strong incoming class from two years ago. With a couple years of experience, that junior class has the potential to do anything.
Speaking of Eastern Illinois, let’s all welcome our new volunteer assistant coach Curt Courtwright. Curt is a Lincoln, Illinois native and a Missouri State alum. He assisted former Illini and current head coach Jason Anderson at EIU.
Welcome, Curt and good luck Illini!! See you at the ballpark!
