Today, Bren Spillane was named Big Ten Player of Week for the second week in a row. It is the fourth week in a row that an Illini has been named B1G Player of the Week.

Spillane helped the Illini to a 4-0 record this past week including a sweep over Northwestern in the Big Ten opening weekend. For the week, he hit .643 with three homers and three doubles . Spillane drove in ten runs and scored seven while stealing three bases. During Illinois’ midweek game against Cal State Northridge, he drove in eight runs.
National Recognition
Illinois reached the D1Baseball rankings for the first time this year by reaching #25. In addition, NCBWA has the Illini ranked #25. The Illini remain at #24 with Baseball America.
