Even though it was just practice, it was great to see the team on the field again. On Thursday afternoon, I dropped by Illinois Field to watch the Illini baseball players take practice. Everyone is prepping for the Orange and Blue World Series which begins September 28th.
It’s a young, new team out on the field there’s no doubt about it. I saw a lot of faces I didn’t recognize. Shortstop Adam Walton came over to say hi and even helped me out by pointing out some of the new guys. Believe me, it will take a while to memorize everyone’s name this year. Adam emphasized that the pitching staff in particular is taking in lot of new players.
One pitcher that we all remember is Cody Sedlock. Cody (above), who is coming off a fantastic summer, threw off the mound on Thursday and is looking to be someone that Coach Hartleb will be depending on in 2016.
