What a weekend Illinois catcher Jason Goldstein had!

With two homeruns and a total of nine rbis in two days, Goldstein was honored once again as the Big Ten Player of Week.  It is Illinois’ third POW award in three weeks and Goldstein’s second of the year.

April 7 – Jason Goldstein
April 27 – Casey Fletcher
May 4 – David Kerian
May 12 – Jason Goldstein

Jason Goldstein helped the Illini power though the Rutgers series, sweeping all three games.  He totaled five rbis in Saturday’s doubleheader and in Sunday’s 28-13 drubbing of Rutgers, he went 5 for 5 with four rbis.  His grand slam homerun turned the tide of the game and tied it up 9-9.

Goldstein is now hitting .302 with 8 homeruns (fifth in the Big Ten) and 41 rbis (seventh in the Big Ten).

Congratulations, Jason!
