Pat McInerney breaks the 1-1 tie with a solo shot in the 13th
The new video scoreboard got a rude workout today as it took 13 innings for the #15 Illini to defeat the Northwestern Wildcats 3-1 at Illinois Field. The cold Illinois fans have Pat McInerney to thank for breaking the offensive silence. His solo shot broke the 1-1 tie in the top of the 13th inning. Casey Fletcher scored soon after on a David Kerian double.

With no ER in 9 innings, Duchene’s ERA is dipping lower
Obviously, the pitching did its job tonight. Starter Kevin Duchene spread out seven hits and only allowed one unearned run while striking out 10 batters. It was Cody Sedlock who got the win though. It is his fourth of the year tied for the team lead. He pitched three scoreless innings. Tyler Jay came in for the save and got the job done giving up just one hit. He earned his eighth save of the year.
Photos from tonight are up in the IBR photo gallery.
