Opening day is less than two weeks away and I can sense it. There’s more anticipation and press coverage to match.
Fighting Illini Athletics posted this 2014 Illinois Highlight video. It’s simply a look back to last year’s 32-21 season with some great footage of the guys doing what they do best.
The formidable pitching staff, solid hitting and deep bench got some good press at the NCAA.com website. Coach Dan Hartleb had his chance to tout his players in a short Q&A interview. Coach Hartleb is quite frank with his answers so make sure to check it out.
Finally, the Fighting Illini players have also gotten some practice singing as of late. They were the featured singers at the Illini basketball game against Penn State.
With the fans as backup, they sang “Hail to the Orange” during halftime and sounded slightly better than they did at the Hot Stove Banquet. Keep it up, David Kerian and you’ll have them singing the “Big Ten Championship Shuffle” by year’s end!
Illinois baseball opens up against New Mexico State on February 13th at the Lamar University’s Cardinal Classic in Beaumont, Texas.
