Kevin Duchene gets a well-deserved Pitcher of the Week honor

Things just keep getting better for the Illini baseball team after their 4-0 sweep in Gainesville last weekend.

First, take a look at the latest NCBWA polls.  Not only is Illinois starting to get votes now but one of their key opponents last weekend, Florida, was knocked out of top 25.  Illinois can pat themselves on the back for that.  Their two dominant wins has a lot to do with that.

Also, the Big Ten Conference recognized two Illini players in their weekly awards announcement.  Kevin Duchene nabbed the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor due to his complete game shutout of Florida on Friday night.

Hot hitting Ryan Nagle awarded Co-player of the Week

In addition, left fielder Ryan Nagle also took home Co-Big Ten Player of the Week.  Nagle went an amazing 10 for 16 tear and added three rbis to his team leading total of 11.

Congrats to both Kevin and Ryan!

While I’m doling out congrats, Coach Dan Hartleb deserves some kudos.  Turns out that over the weekend, he won his 250th win for the University of Illinois.  Coach Hartleb has accumulated his victories over a period of nine years.  Nice going, Coach!
