It looks like Illini catcher Kelly Norris-Jones will be playing close to home for the summer of ‘14.
It was announced yesterday that Norris-Jones was among the first three signings by the Victoria (BC) HarbourCats. The HarbourCats play in the West Coast League.
Of the three recent signings by the ‘Cats, all were local talent. Norris-Jones is “excited” to play in his hometown. This will be his first time doing so since he left for college. Of Norris-Jones, HarbourCats’ Co-Head Coach Bob Miller says:
“Kelly is an MLB draft choice who has won a college championship and can provide leadership.”
The Victoria HarbourCats begin their summer season on June 6. Kelly Norris-Jones joined fellow signees Griffin Andreychuk and Nick Rytckyj in Victoria Saturday for the announcement and to meet local fans. Island Sports News covered the event.
