Illini first baseman David Kerian had one of his best games of the summer two nights ago for the Waterloo Bucks in Northwoods League. In a 15-3 win over the Rochester Honkers which featured an eleven run second inning, Kerian shone as the offensive star.
Playing left field for the Bucks, Kerian went 4 for 5 with two homeruns, a double and four rbis. That was good enough for Kerian’s boyish face to be featured on NWL’s website. Kerian is now hitting .324 for the summer with four homers and 29 rbis.
Overshadowed by Kerian was another Illini, Reid Roper playing second base for the Honkers. Roper hit a double and scored a run in their loss. It’s ok, just consider it payback. Roper had his turn in spotlight a couple weeks back when he pitched seven scoreless innings against Kerian’s Bucks.
