Looks like it’s official. According to fightingillini.com, Casey Fletcher has been added to the Illinois roster as a preferred walk-on. Casey is the son of Illini baseball legend Darrin Fletcher. Preferred, indeed. If he’s anything like his dad who still holds Illini baseball records, any team would prefer him.
Seriously, Casey has already shown he’s got talent. He drove in 69 rbis this past season which was the second highest in the nation among Division II Junior Colleges. He batted .381 with a .529 slugging percentage.
If that wasn’t enough, he also collected eight saves as closer with a miniscule 0.71 ERA.
