It’s getting close to that time of year. In one week and change, the Illini baseball team will square off against Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. The month of February means something else too. Major League Baseball spring training is around the corner.
That’s good news for at least one Illini. It was officially announced that the Colorado Rockies invited Lars Davis to spring camp as a non-roster invitee.
Davis helped the Tulsa Drillers to a 75-64 record in the Class AA Texas League. He batted .287 with 9 homeruns with 43 rbis in 307 at-bats. Perhaps more importantly, he made only one error behind the plate all year.
The first team workout will be February 17th. Good luck, Lars!
