Matt Milroy: drafted 11th round by the Marlins

Here’s a quick roundup of a few media stories that have come out these past few days surrounding the Illini Draft Class of 2012:

-NBC affiliate WEEK has a video link to their interview with Jordan Parr after his selection in the 26th round by the Dodgers.

You can also see a short news piece about Parr from WMBD-31 (if you’re willing to sit through a short ad).

The news media in the Illini players’ hometown were obviously proud.  The Peoria Journal Star near Parr’s hometown of Chillicothe, Illinois, covered his draft.  The Quad City Times from Willie Argo’s home of Davenport, Iowa is excited about his draft this year.  The Beacon-News covered Matt Milroy’s story.  You get to see a photo of Matt from his high school days, by the way.  Pitching delivery looks pretty similar to what it does now.

Some Major League Baseball team fan blogs are already getting wind of our 2012 Four.  Rays Colored Glasses, a Tampa Bay Rays blog, is already on the Willie Argo beat.  Bronx Baseball Daily has the Kevin Johnson story covered.

The News Gazette has a good article on how this year’s draft will affect Illinois as they lose three non-seniors to the draft.

And oh yeah, someone you might know wrote a piece for Smile Politely on all four Illini.
