Illini doesn’t capitalize on PSU errors, 3-2

Despite five errors by the Nittany Lions and a fine pitching performance by starter Kevin Johnson, Illinois dropped the first game of the all-important series against Penn State last night 3-2. 

Johnson allowed just two earned runs in a complete game effort giving up just walk.  Illinois managed to tie game in the fifth when Jordan Parr hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded that scored his his brother Justin Parr.  The next inning though, PSU first baseman Jordan Steranka hit a solo homerun that proved to be the game winning run. 

Today, John Kravetz (7-3) is on the mound for the Illini.  Game time is 1:05pm.
