Former Illini outfielder Kyle Hudson has been getting acclimated to the ways of the Rangers’ organization since getting picked up by them in January. Last week, he was interviewed by the Star-Telegram.

What’s the key to stealing a base? “I used to rely on pure speed, but as you move up levels, the catchers and pitchers are better at holding you on. It’s just about reading what the pitcher does when you’re sitting on the bench. Another thing I look for is what their pickoff move is.”
Hudson has been invited to Ranger spring training along with another former Illini, catcher Chris Robinson.
