Former Illini Rohde juggles baseball and law school

There’s a very nice feature article on former Illini Mike Rohde at the John Marshall Law School web site.  Rohde who played first base for Illinois went on to play for the Gary SouthShore Railcats.  Not only that, we’ve heard him behind the mike for a few of the home Illini home games, too.

4-19-07_005~0As if minor league baseball wasn’t enough pressure, Rohde (seen right with Ryan Hastings with the Illini in 2007) entered law school at John Marshall.  The Illini baseball players already know what it’s like to balance college ball and undergraduate studies.  Rohde has taken it to the next level with law school and minor league ball.

Rohde says he would like to combine his love and knowledge of sports with his new training in law:

“Ideally I’d like to combine my sports background with my JD and work in sports law. I’d like to explore opportunities where my sports experience would be an asset.”

It’ll be tough row to hoe but Mike is someone who is up to the task.  Good luck, #9!
