Western Kentucky replaces Metrodome Tournament on schedule

A bit of news in case you might have missed it… there has been a schedule change.  Due to the stadium calamity that occurred at the Metrodome on December 12, they have been forced to cancel the Metrodome Tournament.  Coach Hartleb was up for the challenge and filled the March 11-13 slot with an away series with Western Kentucky University.

Says Coach Hartleb:

“The Metrodome Tournament would have been a weekend that helped our RPI, so we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to replace this event with another strong RPI team in Western Kentucky,”

Indeed, while WKU had a 35-23 record last year and almost made the NCAA Tournament, Illinois has a good history with them.  Overall, the Illini are 7-1 versus the Hilltoppers.  That said, the last time the good guys played them was in 2004.

But history is history and let’s hope it repeats itself.

The schedule on the Fighting Illini web site has now been updated.
