Some of you in the C-U area may be contemplating attending this Friday’s performance of “The Baseball Music Project” which is being held at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts. After all, Hall of Famer Dave Winfield will be there. UI professor Alan Nathan known for his expertise on physics in baseball will give a talk. And rumor has it, Adrian Burgos, author and UI professor, will be signing his latest book. There is of course, the music too, conducted by Bob Thompson and directed by Steve Larsen,
But if you want that extra incentive to go, here it is. The event will kick off with a chance to shake the hands of some of players and coaches of the Illinois baseball team. Now there’s a reason to go!
If you want more info on “The Baseball Music Project” or want to order tickets for Friday’s event, check out Krannert’s website.
It was quite an event. Great music and I thought Winfield did a nice job reciting Casey at the Bat. The event opened with the National Anthem which I don’t think I’ve ever heard a live symphony perform, not to mention movie music from The Natural and Field of Dreams.
