This isn’t showing up on the official roster yet but Northwest Indiana Times reports that former Illinois pitcher Drew Dickinson has been signed by the Gary Southshore Railcats. The Railcats are in the independent Northern League.
Dickinson came over from the Schaumburg Flyers to help complete a trade. Indeed, only a month and a half ago, he was named the Flyers’ pitching coach. Last year, he had a 7-12 record with a 6.42 ERA. He was fourth in the Northern League with 21 starts.
Dickinson pitched four years for the Illini in 1999-2002 and won 30 games over his college career.
And by the way, a little trivia for us old school folks: Pete LaCock is the now hitting coach for the Schaumburg Flyers. Who remembers him from the 1980s KC Royals?
