Frustrating though because the Bigten.org and Big Ten Network standings don’t even match. Add to that some BTN baseball scores are wrong. Sorry, I’m grumpy.
Michigan State’s Jonathan Roof was Big Ten Player of the Week and Ohio State’s Alex Wimmers is Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. Here is the Big Ten press release on the Players of the Week. By the way, some of you know Jonathan as former Illini Shawn Roof’s brother.
Finally, in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s poll, Ohio State ranked 13th in the country. They are lone Big Ten team in the top 30. Also, aptly named Coley Crank from Michigan was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week based on his 3-homer and 7 rbi performance on opening day. For the weekend, he was 7 for 15 with 4 homers.
Indiana picked up one nice win at San Diego. Sure, losing 3 of 4 isn’t good, but San Diego is a fringe ranked team and Indiana, well, they’re not. Michigan State was also damn impressive.
Michigan and Minnesota were meh at best. Minnesota should have swept and that last loss of Michigan’s was horrible…
but not as horrible as NU.
