There was a great article on Matt Dittman in the Libertyville Review. In summer league action, Ditt made the trip up to the Great North so his Lake Erie Monarchs could take on Alaska Goldpanners (summer league teams have such great nicknames, I think).
Don’t think Dittman didn’t lose some sleep over the extended daylight up there:
"At first, I really had a hard time sleeping," he explained. "It took me like two or three days because you wake up at 4 a.m. and you think it’s like 9 or 10 a.m. It gets dark at like 12:30 or 1 a.m., but even then it’s not that dark. The sun sets for a few hours and then it comes back up around 4 or 5 a.m."
Sunday’s nights game between the two teams is billed as the “104th Midnight Sun Game” and they are able to play into the next day without the use of artificial lighting.
Good luck, Matt!
