Billikens stave off Illini rally

Despite scoring five runs in the last two innings, the Illini lost to the St Louis Billikens in St Louis tonight.  This in spite of efforts of Joe Bonadonna, Casey McMurray, Dom Altobelli and Josh Parr who had two hit each in the 11-10 heartbreaker.

This was third mid-week, non-conference game in a row that the Illini couldn’t put in the Win column.

Lee Zerrusen got off to rough start allowing four runs in the first and the never seemed to recover till end when the put together the rally in the final innings.

Coach Hartleb already has his mind on this weekend’s Penn State games:

“We had a couple of guys on the mound who had trouble finding the strike zone tonight, but we still had multiple chances to get the big hit that would get us over the hump and we never did. We just have to regroup heading into the weekend and take care of business in conference games.”

Well said… As much as I would like to win every game, let’s focus on the one’s that count.

Go Illini!
